Updated: May 08, 2020 06:19 PM

Duluth Marshall girls basketball standout Gianna Kneepkens announced her verbal commitment to continue her basketball and academic career at the University of Utah. She posted her Division I commitment on Twitter on Sunday.

Last season, the junior guard helped the Hilltoppers to their first state tournament appearance in 20 years.

She led the team in points with 816, averaging 32 per game.

Despite an injured hamstring, Kneepkens was one of the state's scoring leaders.

The Hilltoppers finished the season 26-5 overall including a state quarterfinal upset before the MSHSL canceled the tournament during the coronavirus pandemic.
