Duluth Denfeld & Hermantown Advance to Section Semifinals, CEC Falls in OT

The Duluth Denfeld and Hermantown boys hockey teams each advanced to the Section 7A semifinals on Saturday, however Cloquet-Esko-Carlton suffered a 5-4 overtime loss to Elk River/Zimmerman.


Duluth Denfeld defeated Proctor 4-1 to advance, while Hermantown handed North Shore a 12-1 loss. On the Range, Eveleth-Gilbert will play at AMSOIL Arena after taking down International Falls 5-1 and Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin earned a 8-0 shutout against Virginia/MIB.

Section 7A Semifinals:

#1 Hermantown vs. #4 Eveleth-Gilbert, Saturday at 6 P.M.

#2 Duluth Denfeld vs. #3 Greenway, Saturday at 8 P.M.

Cloquet-Esko-Carlton suffered a 5-4 overtime loss to Elk River/Zimmerman, while Forest Lake ended the state's longest section quarterfinal win streak handing Duluth East a 1-0 loss. Grand Rapids is the only Northern team advancing in the Section 7AA semifinal round after their 4-0 win against Anoka. Top-seeded Andover shut out Duluth Marshall winning 9-0.

Section 7AA Semifinals:

#1 Andover vs. #4 Forest Lake, Saturday at 12:00 P.M.

#2 Grand Rapids vs. #6 Elk River/Zimmerman, Saturday at 2:00 P.M.

WDIO will be live streaming all the Section 7A and 7AA games on Saturday from AMSOIL Arena.
