Starting Monday prep athletes and coaches could start in-person summer workouts in Minnesota. The Duluth Denfeld boys soccer team was all in agreement that it felt great getting back on the pitch.

"Oh it was absolutely fantastic," said senior defender Owen Walczynski. "It was really nice to see all my friends again."

"Oh it's so nice," added senior forward Xavier Decker. "We were locked up for a while, so it's nice seeing all my friends."

"The whole shut down of everything. I mean they're not playing in any leagues, they're not doing anything. So being able to finally get together and do some work together is a nice thing," Duluth Denfeld boys soccer head coach Scott Anderson.

In-person workouts for the Hunters would have normally started back on June 1st. They've been doing virtual workouts since the beginning of this month, but Monday marked their first team conditioning on the pitch.

Although the Hunters graduated eight seniors from last year's squad, they return numerous starters and are optimistic the season will start on time in the fall.

"I think a lot of us are very experienced because we had a lot of starting juniors. We have that experience starting and playing at a varsity level," added Walczynski.

Players are social distancing during practice.
