UMAC Year-End Awards for UW-Superior's Drexler, CSS's Salmela and Boedigheimer

The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference has announced postseason awards for the 2018 cross country season and the Twin Ports are well represented with three of the top four awards.

On the men's side, CSS's Isaac Boedigheimer is the Men's Athlete of the Year and UW-Superior Glen Drexler is the Men's Coach to the Year. On the women's side, CSS's Chad Salmela is the Women's Coach of the Year.

Boedigheimer broke away late in the UMAC championship race Saturday to take first place by nearly 17 seconds completing the 8,000-meter course with a time of 26:11.7 for his first individual title in just his second collegiate season.

The UW-Superior men captured their third-straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) men's cross country championship title and was rewarded with six individuals earning all-conference accolades Under the direction Drexler, the Yellowjackets were nearly untouchable scoring just 32 points which was 28 better than runner-up St. Scholastica. For his efforts leading the 'Jackets, Drexler was recognized by his peers as the UMAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year for the third-consecutive season.

In women's cross country, under the direction of Salmela, the Saints four-peated as conference champions. For his efforts, Salmela was recognized by his peers as the UMAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year for the third year in a row.
