UMD's Kohlwey, CSS's Steger Advance to Finals at National Track and Field Meets

UMD Senior Danielle Kohlwey will compete for the title in the 100 meter hurdles on Saturday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Kingsville, Texas.

On Friday, she advanced to the finals with a third place finish in the prelims in Kingsville, Texas. Her time was 13.52. Freshman Haleigh Reindl closed out her season with a 17th place finish in 800-meter run prelims.

Earlier this year, Kohlwey won the NCAA Division II Indoor Title in the 60 Meter Hurdles.

At the NCAA Division III Meet in Geneva, Ohio, CSS Sophomore Ryan Steger raced in the 800 prelims. Second fastest time in his heat and fifth overall, advancing to Saturday's finals. His time was 1:51.84.

Over the years, the Saints have had field athletes qualify, but Steger is the first CSS men's runner to reach nationals.

Esko native and UW-Superior senior Fauston Wirtz will compete in the hammer throw on Saturday.
