CSS Women's Soccer to Face Pomona-Pitzer in NCAA Division III 1st Round

Duluth, Minn. - The St. Scholastica women's soccer team will make its 10th NCAA Division III Tournament appearance on Saturday in Waverly, Iowa where it will face Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) in the first round.

The Saints (14-7-0) won their 14th Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament championship on Saturday defeating the University of Northwestern (Minn.) 4-1 to capture the conference's automatic qualifier.

The Sagehens (17-1-1) captured the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCAIC) Tournament title on Saturday. It marked the first time in program history it swept both the SCIAC regular season and tournament championships. Pomona-Pitzer is ranked eighth in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Division III rankings.

The other matchup in Waverly on Saturday will be the host, Wartburg College (14-2-3) taking on Concordia University Wisconsin (17-4-0). Both teams captured automatic bids from their respective conferences.

The Saints and Sagehens will open play on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Wartburg/Concordia Wisconsin game to follow at 4:30 p.m. The winners of the two first round games will face each other on Sunday.
