The No. 4 UMD men's hockey team fell 5-3 on the road to No. 19 Western Michigan Friday night. 


UMD's Scott Perunovich struck first in the first period. During the night, he became the 59th Bulldog to reach the 100-point mark for a career and the first defenseman to do so in 35 years

Cole Koepke and Justin Richards each scored power-play goals in the second period to give UMD the 3-2 lead. However, the Broncos scored three goals in third period to win 5-3.

UMD senior All-American goaltender Hunter Shepard, in his NCAA-record 110th consecutive start, finished with 27 saves while Brandon Bussi made 37 stops.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday at 6:07 p.m (CT).
