Both Acosta and DuFrane were hired earlier in the spring and coached Spring Ball for the Saints. Acosta will assume the role of Offensive Coordinator for the 2019 season, while DuFrane will take over Defensive Coordinator duties.

Both Acosta and DuFrane have impressive resumes. Acosta comes to St. Scholastica after spending the last two seasons as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Bucknell University (Pa.) out of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Prior to Bucknell, he spent two seasons as the wide receiver's coach and recruiting coordinator at Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) Syracuse University (N.Y.). With the Orange, he helped attract 18 three-star recruits and five players ranked among the top 50 at their positions in the country, according to 247 sports.

Acosta also has NCAA Division III Head Coaching experience at Widener University (Pa.) and was an assistant at The College of New Jersey. He also coached at the University of Delaware where he assisted in the development of future Super Bowl winning quarterback Joe Flacco.

DuFrane comes over from NCAA Division III Marietta College (Ohio) where he had been the Defensive Coordinator the previous three seasons. In his time at Marietta, the team was 3-7 in his first year and finished 7-3 last season. As also the Recruiting Coordinator for the Pioneer program, the roster size grew from 73 players in 2016 to 120 players in 2018. Prior to Marietta, DuFrane had previous NCAA Division III coaching stops at Lawrence University (Wis.), Carthage College (Wis.), Loras College (Iowa) and the University of Minnesota Morris.

DuFrane played collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He was a starting defensive tackle on the 2007 NCAA Division III National Champion team. He was also a member of Whitewater's national runner-up team in 2008.

The Saints will open their 2019 season at home against NAIA's Mayville State University (N.D.) at Public Schools Stadium on Saturday, September 7.
