The Cloquet softball team improved to 2-0 after defeating Duluth East 7-1 in Duluth on Wednesday.

The Greyhounds’ Amity Sjerven opened the scoring in the bottom of the second with a solo home run. However, the Lumberjacks’ Lillian Witte drove in Aili Huhta and Olivia gittings in the top of the third to take the 2-1 lead. It would be all Cloquet from there, with Rylie Goranson driving in Witte.

Cloquet (2-0) is next scheduled to host Hermantown Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Duluth East (0-2) is next set to host Silver Bay Friday at 4:30 p.m.
