Cloquet/Esko/Carlton boys hockey edges Bemidji in high scoring matchup

Six goals was enough for the Cloquet/Esko/Carlton Lumberjacks to take down the Bemidji Lumberjacks, 6-4.
The meeting of the Lumberjacks proved to be an intense, physical matchup, and had plenty of scoring. Trailing by a goal in the first period, Grady Knutson found the back of the net to tie things at 1-1. However, CEC would give up another goal and trail 2-1 heading into the second.
There, Knutson would tie the game yet again, and CEC wouldn’t look back. Bobby Thornton, Leo Luense, and Jordan Sewell would find twine to give CEC a 5-2 lead.
In the third period, both teams would score, but it was Niko Gentilini who put the game on ice with an empty net goal.
CEC hits the ice again on Tuesday when they take on Duluth Denfeld at 7 p.m.
