UMD Selected 8th in NSIC Preseason Women's Soccer Poll

Duluth, Minn. - There are 16 women's soccer teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and UMD is picked to finish in the top half of the conference.

The Bulldogs are eighth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. They garnered 128 total points, 12 points behind the University of Mary and 10 points ahead of Minot State. The NSIC is anticipated to be highly contested once again with UMD packed in the middle as the poll has teams five through eight separated by 18 points. The coaches selected #25 Minnesota State University-Mankato to win the NSIC. The defending NSIC Tournament Champions received 222 points and 12 first-place votes. Augustana University was second with 208 points and two first-place votes followed by Bemidji State University, whom also got two first-place votes.

The Bulldogs went 7-10-1 last season. They'll open this season with five straight home contests, including defending national champs University of Bridgeport. The first home match will take place Sept.6 against Northern Michigan University.
