Minnesota's prep football playoffs kicked off Tuesday and Wisconsin's kick off Friday and of their eight tournaments. Northwood/Solon Springs is part of one that's growing.

Putting points on the board hasn't been a problem for Northwood/Solon Springs. Four times, they've scored at least 52. Twice, they've been in the 70's.

"We keep bringing it at practice, no matter who are opponent is. everyone has each other's backs and they pick each other up after the plays and keep each other going," says Haakon Gulbrandsen, Senior TE/LB

It's working, they are 7-2 overall. The Evergreens nearly went 9-0.

"Two losses, one we only lost by two and the other one, we lost right at the end of the game," says Senior QB/DB Jeffrey Meling.

"We are probably two or three plays away from being undefeated. we had a really tough loss here at home to siren, where they scored late in the game," says Head Coach Matt Hager.

The Evergreens get to see them again, in the first round of the eight-man playoffs. After decades of dormancy, eight-player football was revived in 2012. For years, teams played for a spot in a bowl-game like jamboree. Now there's a tournament. Eight teams last year. 16 this year, the Evergreens have every reason to feel good, they've been part of both.

"We have 12 seniors on our football team. in 8-man football, that's pretty unheard of. we have a lot of experience and guys who have been there before. our guys know we are good football team and if we correct those little things, we'll be just fine," says Hager.

Northwood/Solon Springs visits Siren on Friday night at 7 p.m.
