Roughly 2,000 Are Ready to Race in the NorthShore Inline Marathon Competitions

Duluth, Minn. - There will be lots of inline skates, rollerskis and running shoes between Two Harbors and the DECC on Saturday with the 23rd Annual NorthShore Inline Marathon.

The event features various races, both on wheels and off.

"About 2,000 people for all the races, which is up from last year and up a little bit from the year before, so we're excited about that," says Race Director Mike Ward.

Finisher medals are new this year. Also this year, the finish line will be on the bay side of the DECC on Harbor Drive. It is about 800 feet in front of the usual one as the seawall construction is going on.

"It is going to be unique because in 22 years, we have had the same finish line and now with this year, it sounds like the (William A.) Irvin is going to be in its normal location, but the finish line will have an awesome view of the harbor and lift bridge and it will definitely be something unique," says Ward.

Friday's Expo will be at the DECC's main arena and that is also were post race activities will be on Saturday.
