Rice Lake's Kenny Bednarek wins heat in Olympic 200 meter quarterfinals

On Monday, Rice Lake, Wisconsin native Kenny Bednarek won his first race of the Tokyo Olympics. 

He took first place in his heat of the 200 meter sprint men's quarterfinals finishing with a time of 20.01. 

His teammate Noah Lyles tallied the third fastest time at 20.18. 

Next Bednarek is set to race in semifinals, which will take place around 6:45a.m. Tuesday morning (CDT).

SPOILER ALERT: Kenny Bednarek will advance to the finals. Bednarek finished second in his heat on Tuesday morning. 17-year-old Erriyon Knighton also qualified for the finals in the Men's 200M, crossing the finish in first place in his heat, and Noah Lyles will also advance to the finals.

The finals are set for Wednesday at 7:55a.m. (CDT)
