The annual citizen lobbying effort for Douglas, Bayfield, Ashland, and Iron counties will take place on Feb. 12 and 13.  Delegates will visit every state legislator and at least seven agencies to talk about the three issues:

  • Medicaid rates concerning addiction treatment, behavioral health, nursing home care, and personal care workers
  • Funding for locals roads with a proposal to allow Douglas and Bayfield Counties to hold referendums for a one-half percent sales tax that would be used for local roads
  • Support for the UW System biennial budget request, which would provide $2.68 million additional funding for UW-Superior

Additionally, delegates plan to seek support for the Better City Superior economic development effort during meetings with state agencies.

Organizers are still welcoming citizens who wish to participate.  Registration is $40 per person and participants also need to pay for their lodging.  More information is available at SuperiorDays.com or by calling UW-Extension at (715) 395-1363.
