At the convention held at Barnum High School on Saturday, Lee received just under 60 percent of the votes that were cast by more than 150 delegates.

Lee said in a statement, "I have many things to be grateful for today, one of them is that everybody's car started, and another is that my friends and neighbors in SD 11 showed up because they believe in me, and that we will have the opportunity to work together to ensure that our voices will be heard in Saint Paul. Now, we will continue the hard work of getting voters out to the polls this Tuesday."

Democrat Stu Lourey conceded after the first ballot and Lee was then declared the endorsed candidate.

"We are excited to be moving forward to Tuesday's primary with support across the district... Our campaign is carrying forward our message of fighting for affordable healthcare, strong schools, access to broadband, and good jobs, so all of us can live our best lives here," Lourey said in a statement.

Lee will face off against Lourey in the primary election on Tuesday. The winner of that will run against GOP candidate Jason Rarick and Legal Marijuana Now Party candidate John "Sparky" Birrenbach in the general election.
