A divorce filing submitted to the Superior Court of District of Columbia on Tuesday claims that a man ended his relationship with his wife after declaring his love for Rep. Ilhan Omar.

According to documents, it involves national political consultant Timothy Mynett and Beth Mynett. Both reside in Washington, D.C. The report was first published by the Daily Mail.

The married couple physically separated in early April when Timothy told Beth that he was romantically involved, and in love, with Omar.

The court filing states Timothy Mynett met Omar while working for her.

The filing states Beth said she still loved him and was willing to fight for the marriage. It adds that Timothy said it wasn't an option for him.

"He provided no other explanation for his sudden change of heart nor had he discussed being unhappy with their marriage," the filing stated.

Timothy runs a political consulting business called E Street Group Consulting, according to the filing. Federal Election Commission filings show Omar's campaign has paid that group more than $220,000 for services starting in August 2018.

A scheduled hearing for the matter will take place in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 7.

KSTP-TV has contacted Timothy Mynett and Omar for comment, but have yet to hear back.
