Hilstrom is one of the five DFL candidates for Minnesota Attorney General. She said one of the major issues for her are opioids.

"You need to hold the people accountable that are actually causing the epidemic," Hilstrom said.

She said because Minnesota's healthcare systems are nonprofits, she anticipates that would be a large part of the job.

"Making certain that they follow the law so people have access to healthcare not just health insurance," she said.

Hilstrom also said Minnesota has taken the lead on holding companies that make generic medications accountable for price gauging.

"We need to have Minnesotans have access to their medications," Hilstrom said. "We can't allow large entities, whether they're corporations or nonprofits, to interfere with Minnesotans' abilities to get the medications that they need."

The primary election is August 14.
