Poll: As Election Day nears, Biden keeps lead among Minnesota voters

Updated: October 22, 2020 10:42 PM

In the latest WDIO/SurveyUSA (https://www.surveyusa.net/) pre-election tracking poll released Thursday, former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump by a 48-to-42 percent margin.  Four percent of the 625 likely Minnesota voters who were asked say they prefer a third-party candidate.  Only six percent of those polled said they remain undecided.  The poll has a margin of error of five percentage points.

The Presidential tracking poll has remained fairly stable.  In mid-September, Biden lead Trump by nine percentage points.  Two weeks ago, that difference was down slightly to seven percent.

SurveyUSA pollsters say it appears Biden is losing some of his support in suburban areas.  The President now trails Biden by 19 points with senior citizens.  However the poll shows Trump is gaining some support among women.

Voters who have already returned their ballots favor Biden by a nearly two-to-one margin.  President Trump leads in likely Election Day voters by a five-to-three margin.

President Trump has a 51 percent unfavorable rating and a 43 percent favorable rating in the poll.

Likely voters say President Trump would be better for the economy by a 48-to-40 percent margin.  Biden leads by four percentage points by voters who say he’ll do a better job at keeping them safe.

Despite concerns over election security, most Minnesotans say they believe their votes will be counted accurately.  85 percent say they either have full or some confidence in the election system.  Only 13 percent said they had little or no confidence.
