Sen. Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook) is recovering from a heart procedure at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

He said Friday that a leaking valve was repaired earlier this week.

“I’ve known for some time now that this procedure was likely going to be needed. There was the possibility that one of my heart valves would need to be replaced, but in the end, this wasn’t the case and less extensive repairs were needed,” he said in a press release.

His office said he is expected to make a full recovery. He plans to return to his Lake Vermilion home on Saturday.
