Just before 1 p.m. Thursday, sheriff's deputies and the Minnesota State Patrol responded to a home for a welfare check. They reported finding a woman hurt inside.

A Life Link III helicopter transported her, but authorities didn't say where.

Investigators allegedly identified a suspect, found them in the Twin Cities area and took them into custody. They are now at the Carlton County Jail awaiting charges.

The sheriff and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension continue to investigate. They say the suspect and victim knew each other, and authorities are not looking for any more suspects.

Esko Fire and the Cloquet Area Fire District also responded.
