People gathered near the Lakewalk by Endion Station to sing songs and mourn the loss of fallen soldiers. Chapter 80 of Veterans for Peace organized the gathering.

A peace walk took place along the Lakewalk, stopping at different places like the Gitchi Ode’ Akaiing Park and in the downtown area to discuss and reflect on the costs of war and violence.

"We gather to remember and give a heartfelt thanks to our brothers and sisters who have given their lives for their country during time of war,” John Pegg, a member of Veterans for Peace, said.

The ceremony payed tribute to the sacrifice all service members made for the country. The Veterans for Peace members said they believe the best way to honor their sacrifice is for everyone to work for peace.
