Vehicle Goes Off I-35 Bridge, 2 Injured

Two people have been injured after an accident on I-35 near Downtown Duluth on Saturday morning.

According to authorities, the driver of a Ford Ranger was travelling southbound on I-35 when the vehicle lost control due to icy conditions.

The truck then vaulted over the concrete barrier where it landed on its roof in the Depot railroad yard below the freeway.

Officials say the driver, 30-year-old, Laura Erhardt, of Superior, was transported to St. Luke's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 28-year-old, Nathan Waters, of Superior, was transported to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, also with non-life threatening injuries.

The Duluth News Tribune reports that multiple fire engines responded to the incident, including Rescue 1, which carries the equipment needed for extrication and that due to the nature of the accident extrication was needed to get the occupants out of the vehicle.
