The program included a presentation of colors, national anthem, national moment of silence, and national roll call, which will include the names of the 223 service members from Minnesota and Wisconsin who have lost their lives since 9/11.

"Those are really our two prominent populations,” Student Services coordinator Monte Stewart said, "and being able to recognize all of those fallen service members is really important.”

The ceremony also includes the presentation of awards. “Every year we have these Excellence in Service awards that we give to students, alumni, and/or staff who have served," Stewart said.

This is the sixth year the university has done this. Stewart said, “I think it’s something we’ve really started to establish that tradition of recognizing our veterans that we have here within our campus community.”
