Two people died after a crash near Deer River on Wednesday night, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The accident occurred on Highway 46 and County Road 39, just 10 miles north of Deer River, around 6 p.m. 

Authorities said a semi truck was driving southbound on Highway 46, when it hit a Ford pickup truck, going northbound, on its side.  The semi truck then struck a Chevrolet Impala behind the Ford pickup head-on.

Both the driver and the passenger of the Impala were killed.  The Patrol identified the driver as 34-year-old Steven Mark Kubiszewski of Wyoming, Minn., and the passenger as 57-year-old Arthur Mark Kubiszewski of Chisago City, Minn.

The driver of the semi truck and the driver and the passenger of the Ford pickup were not injured. 

The Minnesota State Patrol said there were snow and ice on the roads.
