The State Patrol says 50-year-old Michelle Thompson of Barron, and 45-year-old Gayland Olson of Prairie Farm were traveling southbound on County Trunk Highway O near Barron when they crossed into the oncoming lane, and into the ditch.

The vehicle then struck several trees and the two occupants were ejected. They both died on scene.

The patrol says the physical evidence and injuries suggested Thompson was the driver.

The patrol says neither of them were wearing seatbelts, and that alcohol is not suspected to be a factor.

Assisting agencies included Barron County Sheriff’s Department, Barron Police Department, Chetek Fire and Rescue, and Barron County Medical Examiner.
