MINNEAPOLIS (KSTP/AP) --  Police have confirmed two preteen boys, an adult man and an adult woman were shot and killed Sunday morning in south Minneapolis in what appears to be a domestic-related homicide.

Minneapolis Police officers responded to a call of shots fired that was quickly upgraded to a shooting around 10 a.m. at a house near Oakland Avenue South and 28th Street East. They found two boys outside who were suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

A SWAT team surrounded the house where a man believed to be the gunman was inside.

Police were later able to get inside the house where they found one adult man, believed to be the gunman, and one adult woman deceased.

It is the third domestic-related homicide since Thanksgiving Day, Minneapolis Police spokesman John Elder said in a news conference.

"From the officers that dealt directly with the children to the officers that made the conscious decision to run into what could have been a line of fire and put themselves at risk — to grab those two children, put them in a squad car and drive away, this is something that will live with them forever," Elder said.
