Tiffany, Zunker Advance in Congressional Special Election

Tom Tiffany and Tricia Zunker have advanced to the May 12 special election for northern Wisconsin's seat in Congress.


Tiffany defeated Jason Church in the Republican primary, while Zunker defeated Lawrence Dale in the Democratic primary.

Tiffany is a state senator who received the endorsement of former Rep. Sean Duffy, who resigned last fall to spend more time with his family.

Zunker is hoping to make history by becoming the first woman and Native American to represent the 7th Congressional District. 

The winner of the May 12 special election will serve until the end of the year, filling out what would have been the rest of Duffy's term.

The special election is on a different date than Wisconsin's spring municipal election and presidential preference vote, which will be held on April 7.
