Thunder Bay Police investigate two separate sudden deaths

The Thunder Bay Police Service says it is investigating two separate sudden deaths, including one that coinicided with a fire at a Westfort home.

Firefighters and police officers responded to the fire at a residence in the 100 block of Frederica Street on Sunday evening. A person who had died was found inside the home.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit are investigating the death and the fire, and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is also involved in the investigation of the fire.

The other death happened on Sunday morning near City Hall. Authorities responded to reports of an unresponsive woman in the 500 block of Donald Street East just after 5:45 a.m.

The woman who died Sunday morning has been identified, and family members have been notified. The Major Crimes Unit is also investigating her death.
