The roads are filling up with people hitting the road for Thanksgiving.

One UMD student was heading out on Wednesday morning, to beat the traffic.

Izzy Zawart is an exercise science major. She told us, "I'm actually heading home to the cities, to join my family for a get together at my house. Then I'm heading back up here tomorrow, to celebrate at my grandfather's place, just outside of Superior. We've got a bunch of people coming in from Colorado. And it's going to be fun to have everyone together in one place again."

AAA estimated over 53 million people will travel this holiday weekend.
