Names of Two Teens Killed in Gogebic Co. Crash Released

The Gogebic County Sheriff's Office has released the names of two teenagers killed in a weekend crash.

The office says 18-year-old Lauren Powless and 15-year-old Madeline Jackson were killed in the single-vehicle accident in Ironwood Township early Saturday. The vehicle had run off the road and struck a tree on Lake Road near Powers Road.

A third person who was in the vehicle, a 20-year-old man, was able to walk to a nearby residence to report the accident at about 2:30 a.m.  The man was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Authorities have not said who was driving the vehicle.

The Gogebic County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Michigan State Police Wakefield Post, Beacon Ambulance, and Gogebic County Victim Services.
