Tax Season is here, and it is time to start filing those 2021 returns.

”Planning for the nation’s filing season process is a massive undertaking, and the IRS teams have been working nonstop these past several months to prepare,” said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig.

Experts say filing electronically with direct deposit is best if you can, and that avoiding a paper tax return is more important than ever this year.

Last year, billions of dollars were sent to families apart of The American Rescue Plan. The IRS urges people to pay extra attention when filing, to those who received an Economic Impact Payment or an advance Child Tax Credit.

Also part of the American Rescue plan, $3,200 stimulus checks were mailed to Americans, or directly deposited into bank accounts. "People are going to want to put all of the stimulus money they did not get last year, on this year's return and, you can't,” said Tj Johnson, owner of Thorlackson Tax and Consulting and Jackson Hewitt of the Northland.

For those who received the Advance Child Tax Credit, the IRS will be sending out letters to ensure the correct information is used in your returns.

Filing your taxes early and filing a complete and accurate return are some of the best things experts say you can do for easy filing. For more tips and resources, check out the Get Ready page on
