Within the past few years, businesses like Frost River and Duluth Grill have added to a growing Lincoln Park Business Craft District. Now, a new Taco Arcade Bar set to open this spring will continue that growth.

The restaurant will be the final addition to what is being called the Frost River Marketplace. Tom Hanson, the Co-Owner of Duluth Grill, OMC Smokehouse and CorkTown Deli, says it will be a place for simple, home-cooked fresh-mex food, and include a bar and arcade. The vision, he says, is to create a fun experience and add to the growing business district. This venture has been a collaboration with Frost River's Owner, Christian Benson, who also owns the building where the restaurant will be. Both owners agree it's about more than just opening a restaurant--and is as much about commitment to the neighborhood.

"I feel this is more about investing in the people of Lincoln Park and the people that work for us, than it is about investing in another venture. We have so many quality people that have aspirations of bringing really, really good authentic food to Duluth," said Hanson.

Benson says the added businesses also really helped the growth of area businesses like his.

"Yesterday, I was down here [in Lincoln Park] with my wife and family, and there were a half-dozen people that wanted to go into Frost River because these restaurants were here. There are so many great things going on that are driving people down here," said Benson.

Hanson says they will be going to Mexico City in the next couple of weeks for inspiration and the target opening date will be May 5th--Cinco de Mayo. Residents like Jordan Peterson are excited to see the area continue to expand.

"Duluth was kind of in a slump. It's nice that it's actually starting to pick back up and new businesses are opening," said Peterson. "A taco arcade bar sounds awesome."

Hanson says their other project in the works is transforming the storefront next to OMC Smokehouse into a whiskey bar. It will be connected on the inside to the restaurant. It will provide additional seating for the restaurant.

The Lincoln Park Business Group says it is also excited about the new addition helping to grow Lincoln Park. A statement from President Charlie Deville said, "The Lincoln Park Business Group is thrilled to have another new business opening their doors in our growing neighborhood.  Tom Hanson, his family, and their restaurants have been a huge part of the positive development going on in Lincoln Park and of the growth of the "Craft District." We expect that this will not only increase foot traffic, but also the interest of other entrepreneurs looking for a smart location to open a business."
