Updated: Homicide in Hibbing, Victim Identified

Authorities on the Iron Range are investigating another homicide in Hibbing. This time, between Kerr Location and Leetonia Location.

Hibbing police said a snowmobiler found the body of a man on the Mesabi Trail on Sunday around 3pm.

Through fingerprints, they have identified the victim as Joshua Robert Lavalley, 33, of Aurora.  

Crime scene tape, barricades, and one squad remained at the scene on Monday afternoon. There was also tape and barricades at the nearby snowmobile trail.

Law enforcement and ambulances were on scene till late in the night. "We kept our nose out of their business, my brother and I. The police were going by all night long," explained Harold Larson, who lives in Kerr Location. "Usually it's a quiet neighborhood."

His death comes less than two weeks after a fatal shooting in Hibbing. That suspect is in custody.

"I'm kind of scared. You never know what's going to happen," shared Larson.
