Dave Panchyshyn has lived through two layoffs in his life. And each time, he had help from the Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training, NEMOJT.

The most recent layoff came last summer, from a job he had for 19 years. "When I got my notice, that it was time to move on, really my first call was to the Aitkin office. I told them I'm unemployed, how can I be helped, and what are my options, what do I need to do," he remembered. He knew to call them, because they helped him when he was laid off the first time, nearly 20 years ago.

He got signed up for unemployment, help with his resume, and advice on interviewing. Plus, he got some moral support. "There are days, when you wonder, when is this going to change. When are things going to get better. They are exceedingly supportive, helping keep me positive about it," he remembered.

Panchyshyn is now on month two of his new job in Brainerd. He was hired after posting his resume on a networking website a career counselor from NEMOJT suggested.

"I'm really grateful for all of their help," he added.
