Several options for a new school identity for the new joint academy between Virginia and Eveleth-Gilbert are now part of a survey. Residents are being asked to narrow down the names and combination of names and mascots.

In no particular order, here are the name choices:

  1. Rock Ridge High School
  2. Heritage High School
  3. Laurentian High School

The mascot options are:

  1. Wolverines
  2. Bobcats
  3. Stars or North Stars

Superintendent of Eveleth-Gilbert, Jeff Carey, said the survey will help them determine the top three combinations. Then they'll figure out a way to poll people one more time, before unveiling the winner at the January 23 hockey game in Eveleth.

The colors will be decided later.

Here's a link to the survey. It closes on Saturday.
