A police chase that started in Superior Tuesday evening ended with a crash in Hermantown. Superior Police say they were trying to arrest a "known repeat felon" who had someone in the car against her will.

At about 7 p.m., officers tried to arrest the suspect, who they say was involved in an assault hours earlier.

The suspect allegedly drove away over the Blatnik Bridge and up to the Miller Hill Mall area. The Superior Public Information Officer, Bradley Jago, said officers notified other agencies when the chase crossed the bridge.

The suspect hit another vehicle in the intersection of Haines Road and Hwy 53. Police say the suspect got out and ran but was arrested by Hermantown officers.

A woman in the suspect's vehicle said she was there against her will and asked the driver multiple times to stop and let her out. People in the other vehicle were injured and brought to a local hospital. Superior Police did not have an update on their conditions.

Police intend to refer the case to the Douglas County District Attorney for possible charges of false imprisonment, felony fleeing and assault.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash.
