Stella Maris Dedicates Playground to Students' Late Parent

Stella Maris Academy - St. James Campus in Duluth is honoring a late parent in a unique way.

On Tuesday, the school named its new playground after Dr. George Jennings, a school parent who died from brain tumor in 2015. 

All four of Dr. Jennings children attend Stella Maris Academy. The Jennings family was given the honor to cut the ribbon for the playground. 

The celebration Tuesday also included blessings from Father Richard Kunst, Pastor of St. James Church. 

Families, faculty, staff and neighbors of the school showed up the mark the end of a community effort to build a new playground. 

The school on Tuesday thanked donors and businesses who donated towards the new playground.
