The man who attempted to shoot someone in the head at a funeral on the Fond du Lac reservation has pleaded guilty to two federal charges.

Shelby Gene Boswell, 28, pleaded guilty to illegally possessing and firing a gun in a school zone. Those were the federal indictments. He was already a convited felon, so he was not supposed to have a gun.

He was also originally charged in state court with assault, drug possession and more.

Boswell allegedly went into the Fond du Lac Head Start gym, where there was a funeral going on, on Oct. 18, 2019. Prosecutors said he went up behind his sister and her boyfriend and attempted to shoot him in the back of the head. Mourners got his gun away, and police arrested him in the parking lot.

School was not in session, but several nearby school buildings went on lockdown.
