Secretary of State Candidate Visits Juneteenth Event

During this year's annual Juneteenth event in Duluth, William Denney, a candidate running for Secretary of State as an Independent for Minnesota, came out to listen to the community on Saturday.

He planned on reaching out to what he says is one of the more disenfranchised demographics of the electorate. His goal, increasing the voter population.

"The main point is I want to increase voter turnout and this is one of the most suppressed demographics by design in my opinion, from the top down," said Denney. "So I want to get down to the bottom of a lot of these problems that these communities are having and find out how I can help and how I can convey their message to the larger populous."

Some of the topics Denney focused on with the community were automatic voter registration and ranked choice voting.
