Forty-year-old Anthony Puckett, Sr., had last been seen on April 20 at a residence in the Town of Lakeside, near Highway 13 and the Middle River.  An extensive ground, air, and water search began a few days later when Puckett was reported missing.

On Sunday at about 4:15 p.m., members of the Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department found Puckett's body in the Middle River, about two miles downstream from where he was last seen.  The volunteers had been searching the river after water levels receded.

The Douglas County Sheriff's and Medical Examiner's offices continue to investigate the death.

Other agencies which helped in the search included the St. Louis County Sheriff's Rescue Squad, Wisconsin DNR, and numerous volunteer fire departments including Maple, Poplar, and Lake Nebagamon.
