A 14-year-old teen is dead after he disappeared under water, and never emerged.

The teen has been identified as David Beck of Superior. On July 2nd, Beck was swimming at Sampo Beach on Little Grand Lake in Saginaw. St. Louis County Sheriff's were dispatched to the lake, and upon arrival, bystanders had already removed Beck from the water. CPR and life saving measures were initiated immidiately.

It was reported that three juvenile boys were swimmnig out to a diving dock that was approximately 75 yeards off shore. At some point, Beck went under water and didn't resurface. The other boys began to yell for help, and bystanders from both the beach and on boats nearby dove in the lake and began looking for Beck.

The teen was located on the bottom of Little Grand Lake, in approximately 12-15 feet of water, unresponsive. Swimmer inexperience is believed to be the cause. Beck was transported to the hospital.

On July 4th, the Beck family notified the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office that Beck had passed away overnight due to medical complications that arose from being under water. The family said they were extremely appreciative for all th work and effort put in by first responders that day.

Solway Fire Department, Grand Lake Fire Department, St. Louis County Sheriff's Resuce Squad, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance were involved in rescue efforts.
