St. Louis County Sheriff's were dispatched to the lake, and upon arrival, bystanders had already removed Beck from the water. CPR and life saving measures were initiated immidiately.

It was reported that three juvenile boys were swimmnig out to a diving dock that was approximately 75 yeards off shore. At some point, Beck went under water and didn't resurface. The other boys began to yell for help, and bystanders from both the beach and on boats nearby dove in the lake and began looking for Beck.
