The construction project will restrict traffic to a single lane. That will continue until mid-June, when a detour will be put in place. The project consists of utility work, storm system installation, and resurfacing. Highway 39 is east of McCuen Street in Gary-New Duluth, and is the road that leads to the Oliver Bridge.

Highway 135 from Virginia to Gilbert will also be closed for road construction beginning Monday.

The section of highway runs from Highway 53 in Virginia to Highway 37 in Gilbert. That project will continue through May 24th. The detour will take drivers from Highway 37 to Highway 53 in Eveleth. MnDOT expects the entire project to be completed sometime in September.
