Runners and walkers embraced the cold on Sunday afternoon at the 5k Trail Rivet Run/Walk held at Superior's Pattison State Park.

The run drew many from the community out to support the event, which helps raise money for expenses at Pattison State Park's ski trails that are not covered by the state.

In the past eight years, over $30,000 has been raised for the park's trails.

"The money that we raise goes right to the trails. So for instance, one of the things they were able to purchase was a $4000 trailer to haul rock in and out of the trails," said Race Director Eve Graves.

The event is held twice a year in July and November. The trail the run is normally held on was destroyed by floods from a few years ago, but it should be open next year's race.
