The Red Cross is closing the evacuation shelter for people affected by the Greenwood Fire located at the Babbitt Municipal Building.

The organization closed the shelter at 5 p.m. Monday "due to changing needs of those affected."

According to the Red Cross, more than 30 volunteers and staff from Minnesota and the Dakotas have been working to assist people in the region since Aug. 15.

The Red Cross is not asking for donated items, but they say financial offerings are the quickest and best way to get people what they need.

There is still help available for people affected by northern Minnesota fires. They just need to call 1-844-292-7677.
