The DTA provides trolley rides for free, and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights of the festival, there are two hours of live music on board.

Friday night, Kaylee Matuszak and Kyle Ollah played.

Matuszak said she had never been on the Homegrown trolley before being selected to play on it.

"I was a little bit confused, honestly, just because I didn't even know there was music on the trolley," she said. "Since I go to college in Mankato, Homegrown for me these past couple years has been such a quick in and out."

She said she adjusted her set a bit to include some songs people could sing along with.

"The fact that it's not the best weather today, I think that people are going to be excited to be inside and less walking around and more being on the trolley," Matuszak said.

The weather was one of the reasons Jim Stebe and a few friends hopped on.

"Well, it's warm," Stebe said. "For these people to get out and sing, it's just a very unique experience."

Matuszak has finals next week, but she still made the trip home to Duluth for Homegrown.

"I just love the community and the couple shows you get to go see, like just how excited everybody is for Homegrown," she said.

Friday night was Rawk Night, and Saturday is Roll Night. Sunday includes a Recovery Brunch with some live music at Canal Park Brewing.
