The Rainbow Family of Living Light is planning to hold its 2019 national gathering near Delta during the first week in July.  Some people are already on site preparing for the event, and others will stay after it's done for cleanup.

The gathering has been held annually since 1972 and attracts between 2,000 and 10,000 people.  Forest officials say the event, which they learned about Wednesday, may have impacts on community members and forest visitors.

"We are working hard to minimize effects to our local communities and the environment. All visitors to the national forest are expected to obey federal, state and local laws and regulations, and we take the enforcement of these laws very seriously," said Jamie Davidson, Deputy Forest Supervisor for the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, in a news release.

The USDA Forest Service is mobilizing a national incident management team and coordinating with the Bayfield County Sheriff's Office and other local authorities.  The Forest Service is compiling information about the gathering at

The gathering comes as work continues to repair roads damaged during last year's floods in the same area.  Some roads will be closed.
