Protesters blocked part of I-35 in Duluth for about an hour Saturday.
The blockage took place between downtown Duluth and the Lincoln Park neighborhood in the area of Mesaba Avenue. Drivers can avoid the area by exiting southbound traffic at Lake Avenue or northbound at 27th Avenue West.
A group has been protesting the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody on May 25. On Saturday afternoon, the peaceful protest moved from Memorial Park in West Duluth to the Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial in downtown Duluth and then to City Hall prior to the interstate being blocked.
The blockage began around 6 p.m. and lasted for about an hour.
