We all have something that we are passionate about.  For 17-year-old Mariah Henderson of Hibbing, it's singing.

"I just really love to sing just because I enjoy it," said Henderson, a junior at Nashwauk-Keewatin High School.

"Everything she does, she sings," Mariah's mom, Tina said.

Mariah has cleared one hurdle, but the American Idol road is a long one. Last summer Mariah won the Northland Idol contest sponsored by WDIO.

"I just like singing, so I guess I just wanted to sing," Mariah said.

Mariah would soon find herself in Louisville, Kentucky where she would audition in front of the executive producers from American Idol.

"It was always my dream to be on American Idol," she told WDIO News.

That dream, which was once a longshot, was now in reach.
