Postal Service: Please Clear Walkways of Snow and Ice

Now that the Northland is getting a much-needed break from the freezing cold temperatures, residents are able to get out and wash their car, shop and enjoy everything that is good about this region.

The National Postal Service is asking homeowners to use these warmer days to clear snow and ice from walkways, steps and in front of mailboxes. The recommend putting down salt and/or sand on sidewalks and steps.

The postal service says clearing snow at least six feet on both sides of the mailbox will allow carriers clear access so they can deliver the mail.

According to a release from the National Postal Service Northland District, postal carriers have been injured due to snow covered and icy conditions.
